Old books at Burnley Library were given a new lease of life in a collaboration between Advanced Level Art and Design students from Burnley College Sixth Form Centre and year 9 students from Unity College.
In a series of three sessions planned and delivered by the Sixth Form students, groups worked together to cut, fold and paint books that were due to be recycled, to create stunning 3D pieces of artwork. The idea was taken from previous artwork the students had created, which is currently on display at Burnley Library.
As part of their course the students had to plan and deliver three lessons.
Creative Arts tutor Danielle Whitaker said:
“The students have done really well to organise these sessions and the Unity students have really enjoyed it. I think the hardest part was doing the risk assessments!”
