Performing Arts Students entertain and impress with Musical Theatre Showcase

It was a musical night to remember at the annual Musical Theatre Showcase at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre.

Talented students on Performing Arts and Dance A Level and Vocational programmes took to the stage at the College's professional performance theatre to perform hit songs from the West End and Broadway for family, friends and their supportive Tutors.

Ruth Davies, Creative Arts and Media Tutor, said:

"Two fantastic, high energy group ensembles from 'Everyone’s Talking About Jamie' and 'Les Miserables' were prepared as part of the students’ course requirements but the rest of the material, such as performances from 'The Lion King' and 'Funny Girl', was choreographed during Musical Theatre Enrichment, in addition to their timetabled course sessions.

"The Performing Arts team has been rehearsing for the show every Monday evening since January, and it’s a credit to their dedication and professionalism that the show this year was such a great success."

This year's group production numbers and solos were produced and directed by Ruth Davies with additional choreography by Tutor Poppy Olah.

Poppy Olah added:

"Representative of professional industry practice, the students had to audition for the opportunity to perform solo material and the outcome was spectacular with some incredible performances."
