Sophie's work with Scotland Rugby team paves way for degree studies

A former Advanced Level Sport and Exercise Science student at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre has used her experience of working with some of the UK's top rugby players to help her progress to study her favourite subject at degree level.

Sophie Gavin is planning on a career in sports coaching following her degree level studies at University Courses Burnley where her chosen subject is Sport and Exercise Science. The University course, which is accredited by Buckinghamshire New University, is delivered at the contemporary university courses centre, located on Burnley College's £100 million Campus at the heart of town, with the very latest high-teach fitness monitoring equipment , award-winning gym and indoor and outdoor sports pitches. Lecturers are drawn from the highest levels of the sports industry, with the expertise, commitment and innovation.

Sophie says that the fantastic opportunity she was offered during the final year of her College studies. working with the Scotland Under-21s team, gave her the confidence and inspiration to pursue her dream of university study before taking up coaching full time.

Sophie (18), from Burnley, is a former pupil of Blessed Trinity RC College.
