Burnley College Sixth Form Centre Tutor leads pioneering national research project

An expert Tutor at Burnley College is helping to promote the use of technology in schools across the UK by carrying out pioneering research into the barriers that teachers face.

Ben Whitaker, a Curriculum Manager who specialises in developing students' knowledge of the very latest digital technologies in our Vocational programmes, had his 'Gatekeepers in Technology' report commissioned by NetSupport, which provides innovative tech solutions for the education sector.

His comprehensive research sees him identify who are the gatekeepers who must be convinced of the benefits of introducing technology in education; the barriers they face and how they can be persuaded of the benefits.

Ben is a certified Google Educator, trainer and innovator, who has led training around the UK and beyond. He is a passionate speaker who engages and inspires all those he works with, playing a key role in Project Digital, the innovative partnership byThemis, the Apprenticeship arm of Burnley College and +24 Marketing, from the private sector, to deliver dynamic training to the digital professionals of tomorrow.

A leading force in the digital sector, he is also a Director at Edufuturists, where he hosts a number of educational podcasts and oversees the annual Edufuturists Summit and Awards.
