About the course
On this course you will cover the basics of psychological theory, identifying core counselling skills and their use in practice. In addition you will consider the influence of key theorists to include Cognitive and behaviourists. If you’re interested in a career in counselling that is as rewarding as it is insightful, counselling skills is a fantastic place to begin your journey. You will develop core counselling skills including the use of nonverbal communication, body language and mirroring and discuss the use of counselling skills in a range of professions and occupations which may be of value, including teaching, social work, nursing, childcare and advice work. Throughout this qualification you will concentrate on developing counselling techniques and contracts and the importance of professional boundaries in counselling practice

Entry requirements
To undertake this training, delegates will need a good standard of English and Maths and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the counselling professions.
Assessment
All units are assessed through a portfolio of collected work. This should include example assignments and reflections

On successful completion of this course you may progress to an Access to Higher Education Diploma or to Foundation Entry Degree course. When you have completed your studies you may be able to progress to a chosen Degree programme. Careers that this course may lead to include counselling professions.
