Entry requirements
A minimum of two GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English Language and/or Maths OR a relevant Level 1 Diploma and a GCSE grade 4 in English Language and/or Maths. A grade of at least 3 in Science is beneficial.
Modules
The areas you cover include: laboratory health and safety, and a range of units in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You will also enhance your broader skills in literacy and numeracy, which will be invaluable in supporting progression in other areas. In addition, you will develop transferable technical and practical skills in communication, research and teamwork. As part of your course, you will be required to engage with sector employers, where opportunities will be given for you to develop practical skills in preparation for employment.
Assessment
It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to skills and occupationally-based qualifications at this level: External assessment: In this qualification, there are two external assessments. The external assessments for this qualification take the form of formal exams in Biology, Chemistry & Physics and Scientific Investigation. Internal assessment: Units 2,3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are assessed through internal assessment. Internal assessment allows learners to apply technical knowledge and demonstrate mastery of practical and technical skills through realistic tasks and activities. This style of assessment promotes deep learning through ensuring the connection between knowledge and practice.
