Alex Bailey

Brickwork Advanced Apprentice

View course

Alex has a clear career plan and the drive to ensure he reaches his goals. His focus is on:

  • Improving his technical skills and knowledge
  • Building industry experience
  • Progressing to work on larger projects
  • Owning his own business

He has earned the title of Advanced Bricklayer of the Year and been selected to compete in the prestigious National SkillBuild contest where he tests his skills and knowledge against the very best Apprentices.

Alex chose a Themis Apprenticeship after initially studying a Vocational Construction course at College.

He decided to make the switch as he wanted to earn a wage while he learned his trade and felt the focus on practical, hands-on experience suited his career plans.

Each day is different for Alex but his main responsibilities at work are assisting his Employer in a variety of projects – large and small – by laying brick, block and stone to set designs and rigorous safety standards, as well as ensuring health and safety of the construction site.
