OBE honour for John Smith

Brent Bannister

Student Governor Brent joined Burnley College from St Christopher’s High School to study A Levels in Maths, Computing, Chemistry and Media Studies.
He achieved four As in his A Level exams and will progress to Bristol University to read Computer Science.
Alongside being a Student Governor, Brent is a Student Ambassador and has represented the College at a number of Open Evenings. In his spare time he is a keen snooker player and supports Burnley Football Club.

Joanna Sparks

Joanna is a former pupil of North Halifax High School. She achieved A grades in her Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Maths A Levels.
Joanna will now take up a place at Queen’s College, Oxford to read Chemistry. She hopes to pursue a career in the field of chemistry after completing the four year degree.

Samera Ali

Former Marsden Heights pupil Samera achieved two As and a B in her Biology, Chemistry and Psychology A Levels.
Samera will now progress to Manchester University to read Pharmacy before pursuing a career as a Pharmacist.

Sasha Phillips

A former Shuttleworth College pupil, Sasha achieved straight As in her Maths, English Language and Literature and Psychology A Levels.
She will now progress to Newcastle University to read English Language and Literature

Kendra Hodkinson

Former Blessed Trinity pupil Kendra achieved an A and two Bs in her A Levels in Religion and Philosophy, Psychology and History.
She is now taking a year out before progressing to university to study to become a Social Worker.
Kendra has been involved with the Breaking Barriers in Burnley programme and took part in a trip to Auschwitz as part of this.

Kirsty Walton

Kirsty achieved an A and two Bs in her Law, Chemistry and Psychology A Levels.
The former Alder Grange High School pupil will now progress to Manchester University to study Chemistry with Patent Law.

Rebecca Shaw

Former Ivy Bank pupil Rebecca achieved an A and two Bs in her A Levels in English Language and Literature, Psychology and Sociology. She also completed an AS Level in Maths.
Rebecca will now progress to Edge Hill University to study Primary School Teaching.
During her A Level studies, Rebecca volunteered at Padiham Green Primary School to gain experience of teaching and to help her university application stand out.
