The iconic £81.5 million Burnley College campus combines a highly successful Sixth Form Centre, a Skills and Adult Centre and a University of Central Lancashire campus.
We aim to provide our students with high quality learning resources to help them reach their full potential. Innovative technologies have been incorporated into all our classrooms, laboratories and workshops. Our classroom layouts have been carefully planned to facilitate the highest standard of teaching.
A large, flexible open plan Science Hub contains high specification laboratory facilities, interactive whiteboards and an extensive range of science books and journals. The innovative design allows students to experience a stimulating variety of active learning opportunities, including classroom and laboratory work, supported individual and group study, with constant access to IT facilities and lab equipment. The equipment and facilities available support teaching and learning for A level Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Psychology, Environmental Science and Advanced Vocational Applied (Forensic) Science students.
The College’s Design Innovation Academy, used by Advanced Engineering students, contains a wide range of specialist industry standard machinery including a Rapid Prototyping Machine/3D Printer, Lloyds Tensile Testing Machines, Universal Hardness Testers and Mazak Vertical Machining and Turning Centres.
There are excellent facilities for performance and exhibitions including a 160 seat Performance Theatre and 110 seat Lecture Theatre.
Independent study is promoted through Active Learning Zones which combine traditional learning materials such as books and journals with online learning resources. Our Active Learning Zones have been recognised as best practice by Ofsted.
Our campus has superior sports facilities which include a large sports centre, with a climbing wall which meets the criteria for outward bound courses and a state-of-the-art fitness suite.
There is also a UEFA standard, full-sized outdoor 3G pitch and a 5-a-side multi-use pitch. |
