Upon successful completion of your Advanced Apprenticeship you will be a fully qualified plumber and may undertake a career in this field. You will then have the opportunity to study further professional qualifications, such as a Foundation Degree in Building Services and Sustainable Engineering.
You must have at least four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics and have successfully completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Plumbing.
If you like problem solving, technical challenges and you enjoy working with your hands then this is the programme for you.
You will be employed by a local company and will gain practical on site experience four days per week. This valuable experience will give you the opportunity to become competent in a range of plumbing skills.
You will attend Burnley College one day each week to gain the underpinning knowledge required for your Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ, for practical work and for portfolio-building sessions.
An integral part of your Apprenticeship will be the acquisition of Adult Literacy and Numeracy or Key Skills/Functional Skills. In order to complete your Apprenticeship you will undertake group work and study sessions covering a range of topics and skills.
Fully trained and qualified assessors will conduct assessments in placement. Supporting knowledge and portfolio building sessions will be delivered in College. Achievement in end of unit technical exams is required.
Extra Curricular Activities
As a Construction student you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities to enhance your studies, including participation in the National Skillsbuild competition across the North West region, visits to building of architectural significance, attending trade exhibitions and practical extra curricular activities including sport.
